- Team Leadership & Management: Acted as
head of Research and Content teams, defining our product direction and managing
its development and deployment. Managed Content and Design teams on a tight
budget and timeline in the development of a database of 30,000 multiple-choice
questions with visual aids for students K-6, replete with cross-referenced
data to personalize questions to each user.
- International Teamwork: Collaborated with
and trained team members in Hong Kong, cutting our production costs and enabling
translation of our entire curriculum into Chinese.
- Mockup Development: Conceived many ideas
for product features, transforming them into designed page mockups for team
review, which were then translated into design and tech specifications for
development.
- User Research & Testing: Performed
initial user research for company. Visited schools, performed focus group
activities, and conducted online research. Produced detailed user profiles
to aid in product development.
Designed and conducted full Beta Test effort for our company, analyzing the
results of both user testing and online surveys to prepare clear and actionable
recommendations for our launch product.
- Product Requirements Analysis and Development:
Met frequently with other business unit leaders to determine product features
and requirements, translating these into prioritized action items for members
of content, design, and technology teams.
- Building a Networked Curriculum: The backbone
of PLANETii's innovative math learning experience is an intelligent "networked"
curriculum. From the beginning we analyzed curricula from the U.S., Singapore,
and Hong Kong to create a "super-curriculum" that satisfied multiple countries'
curricular requirements.
I then planned the development process for our database of 30,000 multiple-choice
questions, complete with various tagged fields to input meta-data which then
could be accessed to further personalize the user experience.
- Algorithm Development: Developed logic
for intelligent algorithm for central K-6 “networked” mathematics
curriculum (applied for patent in 2002). The resultant engine was combined
with our “networked curriculum” to precisely serve students with
questions based on their prior performance, as well as provide intelligent
suggestions for teachers and parents on how to shore up a student’s
weaknesses and build on his/her unique strengths.
