During the past few years I have studied location-based technologies and mobile social softwares, synthesizing my research into an essay and conceptualizing projects that incorporate a knowledge of time, location, and social networks.

100 Wild

100 Students . 100 Wild Ideas . 100 Dollars Each

100 Wild is an internet project for high school students. It aims to raise 1 million dollars for creative causes by:

1) Challenging students to post creative project ideas to help the world with $100;

2) Providing a simple way for anyone in the world to vote on their ideas;

3) Working with local and national businesses to fund the projects, using tax-free dollars.

A 5-slide presentation of this project can be viewed at http://iid8.com/100wild/Concept/index.html and an in-process mock-up site is available at http://www.iid8.com/100wild/IdeaBox/.

TraveLounge

TraveLounge is a social networking program for salespeople and other frequent travelers. It uses GPS or GPRS to create latent connections between travelers, accumulating information before alerting them to others who share similar paths and experiences in cities around the world.

Semidat.foto

Semidat.foto would use GPS and time data to automatically make cell phone photos available to fellow party-goers. Combined with face-recognition software it could also alert you to strangers’ photos in which you appear, or provide an automatic photolog of your life composed of strangers’ photos taken as you passed by.
